Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

1. We are looking for papers from 300 and 400 level classes.
2. We will accept papers that received a grade of A- or higher.
3. Papers should fit within our scope as outlined in our Focus and Scope
4. Papers submitted should be no more than 16 pages double-spaced (not including works cited).
5. Papers must  be accompanied with a brief abstract that summarizes the main argument of your paper. Abstracts will be included in the published journal.
6. Keep your audience in mind when writing: be clear and succinct. Use your paper as a teaching tool: give your readers enough background and context to fully understand your argument.
7. The submission must be your own original work. Familiarize yourself with the University of Alberta’s guidelines on Academic Honesty.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Submission must include MLA style citations
  2. Papers should be double spaced. Use 12pt Times New Roman font and one-inch margins.
  3. Personal identifiers should be removed from the text (for example, name in the header)
  4. Use Canadian spelling
  5. Papers should be formated as Microsoft Word documents.
  6. We accept submissions by email only.

    1. Put your name in the subject line: Submission: [Your Name]
    2. In the body of your email, please include:
    • Your name, program, year of study, and institution.
    • A short abstract of your paper (approx. 250 words)
    3. Attach your paper as a word document.

    All submissions submitted by e-mail should be sent to spaces@ualberta.ca
