Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

 

Authors should submit their papers if they feel that their essays have an interesting outlook on an important subject, whether that outlook is an overtly "political" one, a historical one, or an economic one. We welcome submissions from a variety of different perspectives.

We do ask, however, that all submitted full-length papers would be papers from 2xx, 3xx, and 4xx level classes that have received a mark of A- or above. We will need verification from course professors to confirm this as well. If you have an original paper, or are submitting an article to our issue's main query, than this step is not necessary. We also ask you to only submit papers under 30 pages in length, double-spaced. Finally, we ask that you use MLA standard citations in your submissions.

In terms of submitting short responses to an issue's query, we ask that responses be kept under 700 words and cite their sources in MLA style.

 

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

This journal is intended for undergraduate publications; articles may be submitted to other journals subsequent to publication in The Lyceum. The Lyceum reserves all distribution rights to the works appearing in this journal, both hard copy and electronic access.
