Gert Biesta (www.gertbiesta.com) is Professor of Education and Director of Postgraduate Research at The Stirling Institute of Education, University of Stirling, Stirling, FK9 4LA, Scotland, UK. His research focuses on the theory and philosophy of education with a particular interest in questions about education and democracy. He takes inspiration from pragmatism (Mead, Dewey), Continental philosophy (Derrida, Levinas), Continental educational theory and North‐American curriculum theory.
