Détrôner Dieu et les médias : carnavalisation et hybridité dans Zéro mort de YB
Résumé
This article will analyse certain processes of “carnavalising” and hybridising in the novel of Algerian ex-journalist YB. This novel’s principal theme is the redemption of an Islamic terrorist. It presents the political and ideological landscape of today’s Algeria by underlining contemporary debates such as the religious question. These arguments are never-ending, often receive a biased treatment, and are even caricatured by the media. YB addresses these issues by mixing language, “crossbreeding” it, or by bringing to it various strands. In a seriocomic register, he mixes things and enters the territory of “literary incorrectness” which is commonplace in French-Algerian literature. He takes the liberty to “break” the language, and with it the tragic discourse, the comical discourse, and even the historical one.
