Focus and Scope

The International Journal of Qualitative Methods is a peer reviewed journal published as an open annual volume (formerly quarterly), web-based journal by the the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology at the University of Alberta, Canada, and its international affiliates. It is a multi-disciplinary, multi-lingual journal, free to the public.

Our goals are to advance the development of qualitative methods, and to disseminate methodological knowledge to the broadest possible community of academics, students, and professionals who undertake qualitative research. By keeping the journal free of charge, we hope to broaden our audience to include individuals who, for whatever reason, do not read traditional, subscription-based journals. ISSN (1609-4069)

Article Processing Charge (APC)

In order to continue operating as a multi-disciplinary, open-access journal that publishes original works, IJQM implemented a $500.00 plus GST Article Processing Charge (APC) for articles submitted and accepted for publication after January 1st, 2013.
The APC defrays IJQM’s costs for providing international open access to full text articles, managing and maintaining the peer review process, and preparing manuscripts for online publication. Articles will be subject to payment only after peer review, official acceptance, and entry into the production process.
Fees may be waived for individuals that do not have adequate funding to cover the charges. Applicants will be assessed on a case by case basis and will be required to submit a formal request at time of initial article submission.
